Cape Epic – Pietro Lamaro:
X
Lee Cougan Crossfire Trail

Some races test your legs. The Cape Epic tests everything. Eight days, 600+ km, 16,000 meters of climbing. Unpredictable terrain, extreme conditions, and no room for mistakes.

Pietro Lamaro, an Italian rider based in Switzerland, tackled the legendary stage race for the first time, alongside his teammate in the Team Patatrack duo. No stage race experience, but full commitment—and one rock-solid tool: the Lee Cougan Crossfire Trail.

They missed the grid on Stage 1, started from the back, and launched into a 90km time trial through dust and mayhem. Flat tires, crashes, saddle destroyed—but somehow, they finished 7th. The tone was set.

From a chaotic start (missing the start grid and chasing solo for 90 km) to finding their flow in the latter stages, the Crossfire Trail proved to be a true companion.

Fast, agile, stable—and above all, reliable. Not a single mechanical issue. Just consistent, confident performance. As their strategy evolved—smart pacing, stronger finishes—the duo climbed the standings, finishing the race in an impressive 12th place overall out of 187 teams.

The Crossfire Trail – Built for this

In a race where everything changes, one thing stayed solid: the Crossfire Trail.

Through all of it, the Lee Cougan Crossfire Trail was more than a bike—it was a weapon. Lightweight, responsive on the climbs, and ultra-stable on the descents, it handled the chaos of the Epic with ease.

When Pietro had the legs, it flew. When he didn’t, it helped him hang on. And when the trail turned to rivers of mud? It just kept going.
